Architectural details, ranging from the terra cotta roof tiles to the timber louvers, invoke the elegant aesthetic of King Rama VI, all in a tranquil setting designed to appeal to today’s traveler.

Furthermore, as there is no direct access to the beach, access has been provided through the existing phase. The design additionally focuses on integrating the project with Nature by providing a large garden (almost an acre in size) and preserving its own ancient Tamarind trees and an ancient Bhodi tree on site. This greatly influenced the planning and zoning of the main functions and guestrooms and added to the unique character of the development.

For the same reason, Tamarind leaf patterns have been used as one of the main features for facade and interior decoration. The colonial features from the existing phase have additionally been modified in order to keep the original feeling of the brand, whilst adding a hint of modernity and timelessness to it.

This development, an extension to the Intercontinental Hotel Hua-Hin, is situated on opposite side of the road to the original hotel complex. With the social responsibility in mind, the project's own newly built pedestrian bridge providing a link between the two is also open to the general public.

The extension addresses the requirement of the hotel to be able to meet the rapid increase in requests it has received for function venues for weddings, meetings and seminars, etc. It also supports the nearby new shopping centre, BLUPORT. In addition to providing a 350 -sq.m. ballroom, 2 meeting rooms and an all-day dining and lounge; it houses 40 guestrooms and a swimming pool that is shared with public space. It also provides other facilities and back-of-house services in conjunction with the original phase of the hotel complex.

There were design challenges to be championed with this project. Height restrictions due to Planning Regulations were one of them. These were overcome by providing some areas at the top of the buildings with sea views.
